Daniel J. Moos is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Pillar Income Asset Management based out of Dallas, TX. Mr. Moos directs the overall operations; including all financial, accounting, administrative, technology, and strategic planning of Pillar, who with its affiliates manage over $3.5 billion of commercial real estate and energy resources, including: ARL, TCI, IOR. Mr. Moos brings over 20 years of successful experience in public and private Fortune 1000 and Middle Market Companies with him to Pillar. This record of success is highlighted by his ability to understand uniquely different business models for the varying stages of growth and to maximize operational efficiencies.
Mr. Moos has held significant executive-level positions and managerial roles with other companies; which involved him directly in operations, finance, business growth, and strategic planning. Prior to joining Pillar in March of 2007, he was Senior Vice President and General Manager for Transportation Services of US Bank. From 1997 to 2003, Mr. Moos was Executive Vice President, Chief Operating and Chief Financial Officer for Fleetcor Technologies in New Orleans, LA, where he grew the Corporation and enhanced shareholder value. From 1985 to 1997, Mr. Moos was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of International Computer Security (ICS) in Carlisle, PA and Cleveland, OH, where he developed strategic business plans that reflected significant growth and profitability by improving operating performance.
Mr. Moos holds a Bachelor‘s Degree from the University of Houston, TX; a Masters Degree from the University of Dallas, TX; and has completed other post graduate programs at Northwestern University, Syracuse University, and Stanford University. Gene Bertcher serves as Chief Financial Officer of Abode Properties. His primary responsibilities will be to direct the Financial and Accounting processes, and overall strategic growth and planning of Abode Properties and the affiliated public companies. He has also been a key member of the Pillar Income Asset Management team and its affiliates, holding various executive level positions, since 1989. Gene was elected Executive Vice President of Pillar in 2008. In November 2009, the Board of Directors of Transcontinental Realty Investors, Inc. appointed Gene Bertcher to the additional position of Chief Financial Officer of the Company. Gene is also the current President and Chief Financial Officer of New Concept Energy, Inc., a position he has held since 2004.
As the Vice President of Multi-Family Construction, Randall Johnson is responsible for the development and construction of multi-family residential communities. In addition to his Pillar duties, he will also play a vital role in the strategic growth of Abode Properties.
Randall has over 15 years of extensive experience in residential, retail, and office development and over 30 large scale multi-family and mixed used projects under his belt. Prior to Pillar Income Asset Management he was with Avere Real Estate, Billingsley Company, Bennett Benner Partners, and Renaissance Partners. Most recently Randy served as the Vice President of Development for Avere Real Estate where he was responsible for the design and development of high end senior living real estate projects.
Randall holds a Master’s Degree in Real Estate as well as a Masters in Architecture from MIT.
Steven Shelley is Chief Investment Officer of Abode Properties Trust and is responsible for investment strategy and overseeing the growth of the portfolio of assets, including acquisitions and new development, as well as targeted, strategic dispositions.
In his time with Abode and its affiliates, Steven has presided over nationwide acquisitions and dispositions in excess of $2 billion and financing transactions in excess of $1.5 billion, including HUD, GSE, and conventional debt.
Steven received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Baylor University and his Master of Business Administration from Texas Tech University. Steven has been with Abode and its affiliates since 2005 and has specialized in complex capital structures and creative finance solutions.
Brad Kyles serves as the Vice President of Pillar Income Asset Management, Transcontinental Realty Investors, and American Realty Investors. Brad’s responsibilities include all asset management, property management, and the operating performance of a portfolio consisting of over 100 apartment communities located across 15 states. Prior to joining Pillar, Brad was Founder and President of Allcoast Financial Services, LLC, a company that provided nationwide property preservation and REO repair services to major lenders and holding companies. For more than 25 years, Brad has successfully implemented his innovative real estate strategies, improving the performance and value of numerous property portfolios.
As Risk Manager, Steve handles all Policy Renewals, Claims, Changes, Additions, Deletions, etc. that involve all properties under the Pillar Umbrella (ARI, TCI, IORI, UHF), and all Oil and Gas Operations (New Concept, Mountaineer State, SH Exploration, Coastland Operations). These policies include: Property, Liability, Workers Compensation, Auto, and Aviation.
With more than 20 years of multi-national experience as both a lawyer and a certified public accountant, Louis J. Corna brings tax planning, legal counsel, and operating and negotiating expertise to a broad variety of Pillar’s transactions and operations. Licensed to practice law in Illinois and Texas and a licensed CPA in Texas, he is nationally recognized as a tax expert in real estate, partnership, and corporate and international taxes. Currently, he manages the corporate compliance with the SEC and stock exchange requirements for our three publicly traded companies, and previously, served as our Chief Financial Officer. Louis has been involved in significant transactions in over thirty countries and was a Contributing Editor of a three volume treatise on Mergers and Acquisitions.

Dan Gomez serves as the Executive Vice President for Corporate Finance for Pillar Income Asset Management. Dan assists with the overall strategic growth of the Company and manages relations with financial partners to further financing opportunities for assets within TCI’s subsidiary Abode Properties.
Previously, served with HUD for over 23 years. Most recently, he served as its Deputy Regional Administrator for the HUD Region VIII Offices with responsibility for over $67 billion regional HUD investments. He also served as both Director of the Processing and Underwriting Division for the Denver Single Family Homeownership Center and Chief Underwriter for multifamily insured housing programs. Wherein, he oversaw and managed the FHA mortgage insurance processing of over $207 billion single family and $500 million multifamily mortgage insurance endorsements, respectively. Dan holds a Bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Northern Colorado.
Bruce Mavis has 20 years of experience in Real Estate Accounting and Financial Analysis in addition to 10 years’ experience in the Banking Industry. As Abode’s Director of Financial Analysis, Bruce provides forward going metrics analysis in: Gross Asset Valuation, earnings, AFFO and shareholder value to aid the company in making decisions geared to achieving those goals. He also provides the company with overall leadership in IT development, support and integration with outside parties. Bruce holds an MBA from Metropolitan State University (Minneapolis, MN) with concentrations in International Finance and Information Technology..
